Unit for Livable Cities

This unit is concerned with the creation of Urban Health Science, a new field of academic endeavor integrating health, medicine, and urban engineerinng. This initiative was developed in response to problems of depopulation, declining birthrates, increased longevity, increased stress levels, dehumanization, environmental degradation, and the threat of natural disaster. The goal of the initiative includes the concepts of "human and social well-being" through "self-reliance and individual volition" in conjunction with natural and human disaster risk management, development of urban amenities (transportation and amenities), urban health and medical care services, and "environmental well-being" based on productive environments and recycling-oriented communities.
