Visiting Other University's Library

If you wish to visit a library of other university (institution) because Kyoto University libraries do not hold the material you need, we can issue a letter of introduction.

This service is available to members of Graduate School of Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, and related centers. If you belong to other faculties, please contact each library.

When visiting other university’s library, please check the following websites or each library’s website for details. Your ID/Student ID may be required, or advance notification may be required.
※Some libraries do not require a letter of introduction.

How to Apply

If you need a letter of introduction, please complete the application form of the Main Library, or submit the following Excel form to Katsura Library, The North Library or The South Library. You may also submit the Excel form to the e-mail address below. We will contact you by e-mail (or phone) when a letter of introduction is ready.

Notes

  • Please check the holding information using OPAC, etc. of the library you wish to visit. If the materials are on loan, they are not available.
  • It usually takes a few business days to issue a letter of introduction. Please check the opening days of the library you wish to visit on its website, etc. and apply well in advance.
  • Materials may not be available due to being in binding, on loan, or held by laboratories.
