Contents of Education Program

The following education program is provided to educate and train those who act as good leaders internationally with their great insight as well as profound expertise:

(1) Industry-government-university cooperative school

As a place where researchers in different areas actively meet, the “Industry-government-university cooperative school” is established. Students (trainees) report the content of their own research for the doctoral thesis, and conduct debates from various perspectives, including social significance and possibilities of realization. Members selected from among mentor teachers and consortium-participant corporations participate in such debates in addition to the students. Each student is required to report at least twice during his/her training period.

Through this activity, each trainee will acquire the “ability to objectively understand his/her own research from a comprehensive point of view.” Based on discussions in the school, the institution or corporation where the trainee is sent for “interactive education-type joint research” will be selected.

(2) Interactive education-type joint research

Trainees in this program participate in interactive education-type joint research in which they advance their work as researchers under the mutual influence of researchers at the accepting institution/ corporation. The research period at the institution/ corporation must not be shorter than three months.

The institution/ corporation which accepts the trainee is selected by taking the research area of the trainee into account. The debates in the “industry-government-university cooperative school” are used for this purpose. A mentor teacher will be assigned to each trainee to support the research. A trainee participates in joint research from the preparatory phase, and acquires the “ability to develop his/her own research into related areas, and devise a new research plan” as well as the “ability to lead the team as leader.”

(3) Practical English training

In an educational environment where a trainee is trained by a foreign teacher on a one-to-one basis, practical English training will be provided for each trainee to learn methods of making a presentation, asking questions/ answering questions, and having discussions in English at international conferences, and of preparing scientific and technical papers in English. Research papers and presentation slides that are actually written by trainees are used in the class, and ways of improving them are discussed. Through debates among the trainees, the ability for critical thinking is also instilled.
