In accordance with its basic philosophy, Kyoto University has strived ceaselessly to open itself to the world. Since accepting its first overseas student in 1903, the number of overseas students studying engineering at Kyoto University has steadily increased. Currently a total of approximately 600 foreign students are enrolled in the Faculty of Engineering and Graduate School of Engineering.
