“Katsura Yui”－An evolving network base for cutting-edge research equipment
In order to sustain and strengthen the world's top-level education and research infrastructure in the current severe financial situation, it is important to efficiently use existing basic facilities, and it is necessary to promote the sharing of facilities. Although the university has been making efforts to improve its basic facilities, it has been limited to efforts at the departmental level and has not yet been able to build a university-wide system. Therefore, in order to actively promote the sharing of facilities, the certification of facility support bases was started in the 31st academic year as an organization (base) to efficiently and effectively implement the joint use of excellent facilities both inside and outside the university, such as by district and research field, beyond the framework of existing departments.
In April of the second year of Reiwa, the Graduate School of Engineering was certified as a new certified base, "Katsura Yui" - an evolving network base for cutting-edge research equipment. This center aims to strengthen and promote industry-academia collaboration and inter-university joint research by organically combining cutting-edge research equipment distributed on the Katsura Campus of Kyoto University with an IoT network system, positioning the Katsura Campus as an "open laboratory base for measurement, evaluation, and analysis" and realizing joint use of advanced research equipment both inside and outside the university.

2024.07.18 Request regarding changes to project numbers due to the conversion of research grants to funds, etc. In the KUMaCo system, project numbers are determined at the time of reservation, so they cannot be changed after use. If you need to change your project number, please follow the steps below. 1. If you have already used the old project number ⇒Please register a new project number with the new project number. If the registered email address is the same, an "application number" for the new project number will be issued to your existing account, so please inform the Katsura Yu administrative staff that you would like to change to a new "application number". 2. If you have made a reservation with the old project number but have not yet used it ⇒Please register a new project number with the new project number. After completing the new application procedure, please cancel the reservation with the old project number and make a new reservation with the "application number" for the new project number. (Note) After you have multiple "application numbers", please make a reservation with the appropriate "application number" when making a reservation. 3. If you have no plans to use the facility for the time being and have not made a reservation under the old project number ⇒You can make a reservation under the new project number by submitting a change application through the KUMaCo My Portal. If you would like to make a reservation under the new project number, please do so after completing the change application procedure.
