"Kyoto–ACS Publications Joint Forum" was held on May 25, 2026

The Graduate School of Engineering at Kyoto University hosted the Kyoto University–ACS Publications Joint Forum at Funai Tetsuro Auditorium on May 25, 2026, in collaboration with ACS Publications. The forum served as the first major symposium organized by the newly established Department of Chemical Science and Engineering, which was launched in April 2026 through the integration of six chemistry-related divisions. More than 360 participants attended the event.

The forum opened with remarks by Dean Motofumi Suzuki of the Graduate School of Engineering, followed by an introduction to the new Department of Chemical Science and Engineering by Professor Hiroshi Kageyama. Professor Stefanie Dehnen (Karlsruhe Institute of Technology), Editor-in-Chief of Inorganic Chemistry, also introduced the activities and vision of ACS Publications.

The scientific program featured presentations by six faculty members from the department, together with talks by students and early-career researchers, showcasing cutting-edge research activities. Special lectures included Professor Susumu Kitagawa and two invited speakers from overseas, leading to lively interdisciplinary discussions.

The poster session involving students and postdoctoral researchers was another highlight of the forum, with 76 presentations. Active discussions continued throughout the session, creating a strong sense of unity and excitement across the newly established department.

The forum marked an important opportunity to strengthen collaboration with ACS Publications and is expected to further promote international research exchange in the future.
