As part of "the Wild & Wise Collaborative Learning Programs" in the framework of the President's WINDOW Concept of Kyoto University, the Department of Environmental Engineering of the School, has been adopted as "Education Program for Human Resources with Global Perspectives in Environmental Science and Technology."

It is aimed at progressing towards a resolution based on mutual recognition and understanding of environmental problems on a global scale. It is a collaborative educational program that makes an opportunity where excellent foreign students and students of the School learn together with.

The first program was arranged from October 30, 2016 to November 12, 2016.  Then the second one was from October 16 to October 29, 2017.  As the program makes steady progress, the third one was held from October 21 to November 3, 2018. 16 graduate students, as interns, visited an environmentally friendly company and participated in a workshop at the School.

They took this opportunity to make an official visit to Dean of the Graduate School of Engineering.  Prof. Zhang extended his thanks to Dean Masahiro Ohshima for fostering young researchers in the field of environmental technology. Prof. Hiroaki Tanaka, Director of the Kyoto University–Tsinghua University Cooperative Research and Education Center for Environmental Technology at Shenzhen(Kyoto University side), and also Director of the Research Center for Environmental Quality Management, and Prof. Masaki Takaoka, Head of Department of Environmental Engineering, joined the meeting. Then, they exchanged views of mutual and specific interests with other researchers present in order to strengthen the foundation for nurturing global talented human resources who will be responsible for the next generation.

Following that, Prof. Tanaka announced that Dean Ohshima is scheduled to visit the Center, in December this year.  Dean Ohshima will attend a symposium and a signing ceremony to renew the Memorandum among the Graduate School at Shenzhen, the Graduate School of Global Environmental Studies of Kyoto University, and the School.  The Center has achieved a great deal of success in the field of research and education in respect of Japan–China environmental technologies, specifically after the Graduate School of Global Environmental Studies joined in 2016, to extend the scope of activities. We are looking forward to continuing to obtain further successful results towards the future.
