The Department of Environmental Engineering has implemented "Education Program for Human Resources with Global Views in Environmental Science and Technology" (September 14, 2020 to December 5, 2020)

This year we are in the pandemic of COVID-19. The online workshop was prepared by students.

First, online meetings for preparing the workshop program were held using Zoom software. Staff members of Kyoto University, Tsinghua University, and University of Malaya jointed the meetings. The students discussed about the series of programs - research presentation, cultural interchange, and quiz contest - and the timetable.

The workshop was scheduled from 1PM to 5PM (Asia/Tokyo, GMT +09:00) on 6th November. At the beginning, Dean of Graduate School of Engineering, Prof. Masahiro Ohshima gave the opening address. In the research presentation session, there were total 8 presentation, which was consisted of 4 presentations from Kyoto University, 2 presentations from Tsinghua University, 2 presentations from University of Malaya. 

Cultural interchange

In the cultural interchange session, each university presented about their country’s own cultural. Kyoto University presented ‘how to make Takoyaki, which is popular Japanese street food’ with video made by their own hands. Tsinghua University and University of Malaya presented about their culture generally: composition of population, Religions, Languages, Foods, Traditional Clothes, Festivals, etc. Finally, students enjoyed the quiz session. In this session, students discussed each other with using break-out room function in Zoom software. At last, Associate dean of Tsinghua Shenzhen International Graduate School, Prof. Jian'e Zuo gave the closing address. Total number of participants was 83 from 3 countries, including participants from several cooperation, and faculty staffs.

This online workshop was introduced by students in Kyoto University International Symposium on 1st December and Tsinghua University - Kyoto University Symposium 2020 on Research and Education of Environmental Engineering on 5th December.
