Reports after the 6.1-magnitude earthquake about the situations

First and foremost, my heartfelt sympathies go to all of those affected by the 6.1-magnitude earthquake that shook Northern Osaka on June 18, 2018.

There has been no severe damage reported at the Faculty of Engineering (Yoshida Campus) and the Graduate School of Engineering (Katsura Campus). There were minor incidents such as stopping of elevators, gas and water supplies in some buildings, which came back on running as of June 21. All and all, we have been fortunate the quake had caused no serious damage to our facilities.

We are pleased to announce that the safety of our students has been confirmed. The incident report included an injury by an undergraduate student who hurt his foot with broken glass. No other injuries have been reported so far.

On behalf of all the faculty and staff members of the Faculty and the Graduate School of Engineering, I would like to thank those who gave us thoughts and best wishes. We hope and pray for the speedy recovery of the hard-hit regions from the effects of this disaster.
