Admission to Katsura Libarary is limited to Kyoto University members only in order to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

Visitors are allowed to use the collection of Katsura Library for the purpose of research study.
Please read the following notice before you visit.

Visitors need to fill out an application form at the 2nd floor counter. In addioton, please show us your ID card or a referral letter from your institution.

Service Guide

Visitors can use search terminals, read and make a copy of library item. Reference service is also available. If you have any problem, please ask the 2nd floor counter.
The openig hours for visitors are from 9am to 5pm.
*Reference service and copying service are available from 9am to 12am and from 1pm to 4:45pm.

Using Library Items

Visitors can browse around the 1st floor reading room and stack 1. If you need items in other areas, please ask the 2nd floor counter.

Searching Libarry Items

Visitors can search Kyoto University Online Catologue named "KULINE" by using the terminals at the 1st floor serch corner.
KULINE shows location of items, and if locations are "Katsura", Katsura Library has them.
Visitors can also search and browse e-journals and databases.
*Some e-journals and databases are not permitted for visitors.


Visitors can use the copy machine on the 1st floor. If you make a copy of library items, please follow the Copyright Law.
Before you copy, read attention notes at the bottom of the "Document Reproduction Application", fill in the blanks and submit it in the box near the copy machine.
If you want to make a copy of e-journals or databases, please ask the 2nd floor counter.


  • Refrain from using Katsura Library as a self-study room.
  • Smoking and making a phone call inside the building are not permitted.
  • Drinking is only allowed at the designated areas.
  • Don't leave your valuables in your seat.
  • If you make trouble for other library users, we may refuse your admission.
