Service Guide for Non-KU Users
For Librarians of Other Institutions
- Please apply from the application form of the library your patron wishes to visit.
If it is difficult to apply using the form, faxes are also accepted. - Visitors can also use the libraries without a letter of introduction.
Katsura Library
Advance Application
Advance application is not required. Please come to the counter to complete the admission procedures.
If you have decided which material you wish to use, please apply from the form below in advance to make the process smoother.

Notes
- Materials can be searched through KULINE (Kyoto University Libraries Online Catalog).
- Please be sure to inquire in advance if the "Status" column in KULINE is labeled "Lab". We will reply after confirming the availability of the material with the laboratory. In principle, if the material is available from other institutions in Japan, we do not provide our copy currently in use at the laboratory.
Admission Procedure

- Your ID (student ID, driver's license, etc.)
- Our response to your application (E-mail screen or printout)
※Only in the case of advance application
- Please fill in the "Application Form" (available at the library).
- We will keep your ID while you are using the materials.

Photocopying Materials
The coin-operated copy machine at Katsura Library ceased service on September 29, 2025.
Non-KU users are unable to make copies of library materials or electronic resources within the library.
If you need copies, please request them through a nearby public library or the library of your affiliated institution.

Advance Application

- Use of the reading room for self-study is not permitted.
- Photocopying is not available in the North/South Library. Library materials can be temporarily taken out from the libraries, so please use photocopy machines at the Co-op Clock Tower Shop Copy Corner or other locations.
- Browsing and copying of electronic resources (electronic journals, databases, etc.) are not available.
