[Katsura Library] Exhibition Celebrating Professor Susumu Kitagawa’s 2025 Nobel Prize in Chemistry Now Open
To celebrate the remarkable achievement of Kyoto University Distinguished Professor Susumu Kitagawa, who has been awarded the 2025 Nobel Prize in Chemistry, we are showcasing an exhibition that features his books, major research papers, related literature, and newspaper articles covering his award.
Exhibition Period: Starting October 10, 2025 (Friday)
Venue: Kyoto University Katsura Library, 1st Floor
List of works
Professor Kitagawa completed his doctoral studies at the Graduate School of Engineering, Kyoto University, in 1979. He was appointed as a professor at the same graduate school in 1998 and currently serves as a Distinguished Professor at the Kyoto University Institute for Advanced Study, as well as the university's Executive Vice-President for Research Promotion.
His groundbreaking research on metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) — materials capable of selectively capturing specific substances — is expected to contribute to solving challenges in various industries, including carbon neutrality and the removal of harmful substances. This exceptional work has earned him the prestigious Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 2025.
We warmly invite you to visit Katsura Library and explore Professor Kitagawa’s extraordinary achievements through this exhibition.
