[The North/South Libraries] Welcome to North/South Libraries of Yoshida Campus!

To all of you who will start a new life on Yoshida Campus this spring: welcome to the North and South Libraries!

Kyoto University has about 40 libraries, of which about 30 libraries are located on Yoshida Campus, including the Main Library and Yoshida-South Library. The two libraries on Yoshida Campus, the Engineering North Library and the Engineering South Library, support your study and research in cooperation with Katsura Library.

The North/South Learning Commons

The Learning Commons is a space for various learning activities such as self-study, group study and presentation practice, etc. No reservation is required, so please feel free to use them.

Search for Books and Journals

KULINE is a search system for books, journals, e-journals, and e-books held by Kyoto University. When you search for a book, check the "Location" and "Call No.".

If the book you are looking for is located in Katsura, Uji, or other campuses, you can request it and pick it up at The North or South Library. Please apply through the ”Reserve” button on KULINE.(ECS-ID is required)

Placing Holds on Books Not on Loan

Books held by The North Library, The South Library, and Katsura Library can be placed on hold even if they are not currently on loan. Please apply through the ”Reserve” button on KULINE(ECS-ID is required)

Online Services (MyKULINE) (Book Renewal, Book Reservation, etc.)

Online services (MyKULINE) enable you to renew or reserve books, and request Interlibrary Loans through the website. (ECS-ID is required)

How to Use E-Resources

To access e-journals, e-books, and databases subscribed to by Kyoto University, you need to set up an authentication system (bookmarklet) on your PC, smartphone, or tablet.  (You need to agree to the agreement of the authentication system at the first time. ECS-ID is required.)

With the authentication system, you can use e-resources not only on campus, but also from off-campus environments such as home.
