How to use the library

Opening hours

9:00 a.m. - 9:00 p.m. on Weekdays

After 5:00 p.m., please use the door on the 2nd floor, which can be opened by the IC card.

Library Facilities

There are various facilities in Katsura Library.

Group Study Rooms

Spaces for group study and discussion. (Reservation required)
They can also be used as spaces to take lectures that involve speaking and hold online meetings.

Theater Room

Space for viewing video materials. (Reservation required)
Equipped with soundproofing, you can watch Blu-ray and DVD on a 4K-compatible 85inch TV.
You can freely visit the Theater Room from April 8 (Mon.) to April 12 (Fri.) from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. without reservation!
If you wish, please come to the theater room on the 1st floor.

Open Lab & Research Commons

The Open Lab and Research Commons are facilities that are intended to promote exchange among researchers, encourage students' intellectual activities, and promote collaboration with researchers outside the university.
This space can be used for interaction and research presentation, such as group work, conferences, and poster sessions.

Media Creation Room

This room is a place to support the creation of content for research and learning.(Reservation required)
Equipment for shooting/editing video and creating graphics is available.
Equipment rental is also available.
Tours of the Media Creation Room will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on April 8 (Mon.) to April 12 (Fri.)! (No reservation required)
If you wish, please ask at the information desk.

Search for Books and Journals

KULINE

KULINE is a search system for books, journals, e-journals, and e-books held by Kyoto University. Online services (MyKULINE) enable you to renew or reserve books, and request Interlibrary Loans through the website.(ECS-ID is required)

Request books and Photocopies (Interlibrary/Intercampus)

You can request books and photocopies from other campuses or other institutions.

How to Use E-Resources

To access e-journals, e-books, and databases subscribed to by Kyoto University, you need to set up an authentication system (bookmarklet) on your PC, smartphone, or tablet.  (You need to agree to the agreement of the authentication system at the first time. ECS-ID is required.)

With the authentication system, you can use e-resources not only on campus, but also from off-campus environments such as home.

"Katsura-no-Niwa" : Catalogue for Advanced Research of Graduate School of Engineering

This project shows the research activities worked on at the graduate school and faculty of engineering.
Through this project, we introduce "Research Seeds" which are difficult to see but blossom in the future.

"Katsura-no-Niwa" exhibition booth is in Katsura library.
